I will take your advice though, and abstain even if I hit the jackpot. PIANOTEQ STAGE is for musicians who want to plug it in and play without tweaking the physical model. Spectrasonics curated 36 of the world’s most sought-after keyboard instruments and expertly restored them to pristine condition before sampling them with incredible detail. Keyscape is pretty expensive, but Ive seen some amazing demos of their electric pianos. It’s arguably the best-sounding piano VST on the market, but it’s by far the most versatile. Perhaps they fixed this with an update, I haven't used it for the last six months or so. Keyscape by Spectrasonics is our top pick for many reasons. I have a well maintained i6700 based system with a dedicated SSD for all my samples, with an RME UCX audio interface, and it was still hard to avoid clicks and pops at reasonable latencies (in fact the audio buffer didn't seem to do that much). None of them come close to playing an actual grand so I guess ultimately it's whether or not it has the sound you're looking for in your music.ĮDIT: also, ridiculously, Keyscape is really heavy on CPU and disk speed, even though it's only playing samples. I bought the Ravenscroft Kontakt package on a recommendation but don't really like it. With Pianoteq Standard you can tweak the sound immensely, with Pro you can edit per-note, like setting the pickup distance and symmetry (this affects bark). But if youre looking for modeled take a real good look at Pianoteq and Vintage Tines. Addictive Keys has some cool dark "mood" pianos. Yet another recommendation for Keyscape, its ready out of the box. Ivory is still on my list but I hate iLok and I'm already carrying two other dongles. I've used and enjoyed Pianoteq on occasion but didn't jive with it enough to make it a go-to. I apologize for the microphone quality, its really distorted, I wasnt able to monitor my voice live and I didnt realize I was recording the signal imprope. I'd rate almost any semi-recent piano above the Keyscape C7 but I particularly like the Kronos German Grand and NI The Grandeur of the ones that I own. FWIW I'm also a full time pianist, but as I said, tastes differ.
